To ensure seamless network connectivity during your overseas travels and avoid premature plan billing or activation failures due to improper timing, this guide outlines the recommended installation timeframe and critical precautions for your UUPAY eSIM:
Recommended Installation Timing
The platform recommends completing the installation and configuration of your UUPAY eSIM the day before your departure (or while waiting at the departure airport).
Why install before leaving?
Downloading and writing the eSIM configuration profile to your device's hardware chip requires a stable internet connection (such as your home Wi-Fi or a smooth mobile network). If you wait until you arrive at your destination to scan the QR code, your phone may already lack cellular connectivity, preventing you from successfully downloading and adding the eSIM.
How billing works:
In most cases, scanning the QR code and adding the eSIM to your phone does not trigger the start of your plan. The billing cycle typically officially activates only when the device connects to a local partner carrier's base station at your destination country for the first time. Therefore, completing the installation in advance in a connected environment will not cause your plan days to be consumed prematurely.
Critical Precautions During Installation
To ensure a smooth setup, please adhere to the following strict operational guidelines:
Never scan in an offline environment:
Ensure your device is connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network before scanning. Scanning the QR code without an internet connection or under an unstable network will cause the system to display errors such as "Unable to Activate" or "Adding Failed."
One QR code can only be scanned once:
For security purposes, each eSIM QR code functions as a one-time digital credential. Once successfully scanned and initialized, it binds directly to your device's hardware chip. Do not force-quit the installation halfway through, and never go to your system settings to tap "Delete/Remove Plan" after a successful setup. Once a plan is manually deleted from the phone, it cannot be recovered by scanning the same QR code again, and you will need to contact customer service for a replacement.
Configure cellular data correctly upon arrival:
After scanning the eSIM prior to your departure, you may temporarily turn off the eSIM line in your system settings. Once you land at your destination country, simply re-enable the line in your settings, switch your default "Cellular Data/Mobile Data" to the UUPAY eSIM, and make sure to turn Data Roaming ON to instantly activate your high-speed global network.
Thank you for your continuous support and trust in UUPAY! We wish you a wonderful journey. If you have any questions regarding the installation timing, please feel free to contact our official online customer service for assistance.
